"The Miracle of the Peshtigo Fire

"On October 8, 1871, a devastating firestorm began near Peshtigo, Wisconsin. It would eventually destory over a million acres of land and kill over 2,000 people, becoming the deadliest firestorm in American history.

"When the fire spread near the chapel fo Our Lady of Good Help, people sought refuge inside. Sister Adele Brise led teh people in praying the rosary and processing about the chapel with a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, asking for her intercession and protection. While surrounding farms and forests burned to the ground, the chapel, its grounds, and the people inside were completely untouched."

Our Lady of Good Help appeared to Adele Brise in a series of visions in Wisconsin in 1859. Mary as Queen of Heaven appeared to her, asking the young Belgian woman to teach the young people around her about Salvation. Adele went on to become a Franciscan sister, evangelizing the children of Wisconsin. She later found a school, and her father built a chapel to Our Lady of Good Help. This chapel was in the midst of the worst recorded firestorm in American history; however, Adele and local people stayed in the chapel, praying for Our Lady's protection. Miraculously, the chapel and surrounding land was completely untouched by the devouring fire! Our Lady of Good Help, please protect us by means of Christ's Salvation and help us spread knowledge of Jesus to His children.
