These alabaster bookends feature the timeless Madonna of the Streets. Able to keep heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home. They make the perfect personal and long-lasting gift for Godmothers.
The original artwork was titled Madonnina and was painted by Roberto Ferruzzi in the late 1800s. The name means "Little Mother".
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
"A Godmother's Prayer
Dearest Mother of God, I beg of you to watch over, protect and comfort, to guard and defend my Godchild, so that my little one may one day rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Amen."
