Our Holy Family desk shrine is the perfect meditative and devotional gift of choice. With its beautiful imagery and elegant white marble or gilded gold leaf finish, this Holy Family desk shrine will adorn your home for years to come.
The shrine itself is produced with stonecast alabaster which originates from the mineral gypsum, a highly regarded building and decorating medium that has been used since the time of ancient Egypt and boasts an attractive smooth finish.
It measures roughly 5 1/2in x 8in, including the 4in x 6in inset image plaque. The back of the shrine features a secured easel for standing and a simple metal hook for hanging.
In the year 1820, a Belgian artist named Joseph Paelinck blessed the world with this beautiful and intimate depiction of the Holy Family, unique in that it features not only Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, but also the Grandparents of our Lord, St. Joachim and St. Anne. In the image, the Virgin Mary and her mother St. Anne hold the Christ Child, observed by Mary's husband St. Joseph and her father St. Joachim. The dramatic lighting and the sharply articulated folds of drapery in this intimate work show Paelinck's admiration of Jacques-Louis David's Neoclassical style.
