La Pieta Bookends
These alabaster bookends feature, La Pieta. Holding heavy books in line, they both organize and decorate your home. These bookends make the perfect personal gift for all religious and lay faithful who meditate on the Passion of Jesus and Our Lady.
The timeless painting of was done by French Artist William Adolphe Bouguereau. The text was taken from the Anima Christi prayer.
The bookends are made from stone-cast alabaster here in our shop in Steubenville, Ohio. Alabaster is a building and decorating material created from the mineral gypsum that has been used since the time of the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. It boasts an attractive smooth finish.
Each measures roughly 6" x 8", including the 4"x 6" inset image plaque, and is 3" deep.
Text reads:
"Soul of Christ, santify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me." -
